"Hello, dear sponsors and friends of the Tiago Feldberg Martins Foundation,

Today, 24 October 2024, we are reaching out to share that we have interviewed 15 of the 20 girls getting ready to begin their first year of secondary school.

Why 20 girls?

There are 20 girls in what we consider the best preparatory class. They are talented, ambitious, and dream of rising above poverty, pursuing their education, and contributing to their families and communities. Each of them has excellent grades, strong attendance, and a deep desire to continue growing.

What is high school?

After completing primary school, where they study all subjects in Swahili, the girls must move on to secondary school, where they will start studying everything in English. The preparatory period, between primary and secondary school, allows them to get ready to perform well in the entrance exam. Currently, these girls are receiving sponsorship to prepare for three months. Some will be fortunate enough to continue studying at this school, which provides a safe environment, sports activities, dance, a library, and the opportunity to learn good English. However, many will have to return to the public system, where it is more common to finish secondary school but not manage to complete the last two years (the most challenging ones), which would prevent them from accessing university.

The school has asked us to interview all the girls in this class, as they are bright, ambitious, and capable of inspiring anyone. Among their professional dreams are future doctors, pilots, dentists, teachers, lawyers, soldiers, and journalists. These girls need a sponsor, someone who believes in them and gives them the opportunity to keep moving forward.

Next Monday, we will meet with the last five girls, completing the interview process. It will be a tough decision, as so far, we can only support five of them with the funds raised through our campaign. Smile, AfricaWe knew it would be a challenge to choose among so many talented girls, and we are doing everything possible to transform the life of one of them, who is eager to study and be the best at what she does.

If you would like to become a sponsor for one of these 20 bright girls, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What do you need to become a sponsor?

Becoming a sponsor for a girl involves covering her tuition, school supplies, and uniform. In certain cases, it may also include boarding costs, providing accommodation and meals for the whole year, reserved for those at greatest social risk.

You have the power to change a girl’s life today.

With love from the entire family,

Tiago Feldberg Martins Foundation
